May 2025

Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. John 15:15

Meet Dustin Haycock – Funeral Director Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City & Forsyth, Montana

Dustin was born and raised in a small rural town in eastern Idaho. He graduated from West Jefferson High School in 1994. In August of 1998, he married his wife, Jessica. Together, they have three biological children: Tyson, Natalie, and Caiden, and have added to their family by adopting their daughter Calista and have been fostering their two younger children from the Northern Cheyenne Reservation. Dustin recently lost his first-born son Tyson in July of 2021. Dustin has made it a point to love his children even more every day. Dustin attended Mount Hood Community College in 2010 and graduated in June of 2012. He has worked for Stevenson & Sons Funeral Homes since his graduation. Dustin loves to fish and hunt with his children and spending time with his wife. Dustin loves to serve people and has especially grown to love the Northern Cheyenne people. He also loves to coach his children in sports whenever he can.

After losing his parents at a young age, Dustin knew that this was what he was supposed to do in life. Dustin has been taught that family is the most important thing in life, and that we are all the same, even though we all have walked in different shoes in our lives, everyone deserves the same treatment and respect.

This Month’s Video

How Can We Better Serve You

All of the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Homes regularly contact those we have recently served and request their comments and suggestions regarding the services they received. We consider this to be one of the most important steps we take to improve our service to the community. Without the comments and suggestions from those who we’ve served, we would not be able to continuously improve and expand our services.

Below, for the next few Newsletters, we’ll be posting some of the written comments we have received over the years. We’ll also let you know which of the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Homes received the comment(s).

Received at Fulkerson Funeral Home

Billie is AMAZING! She is knowledgeable, kind, compassionate, and is SO fast and efficient. She seems to do such a variety of things for every customer, so I’m wondering how! She answers the phone & questions. She sent “brochure” or folder examples & said we could  change anything, find another layout, different background, switch things around. She helped accommodate mom’s info & photos and helped me quickly eliminate a couple sentences to make it work–plus we very much appreciate her alertness and a deafness and catching that I might not newspaper had jumped its prices and would have cost us several hundred dollars! She double checked with me before just sending it in, so we ended up eliminating it due to cost. She knew our date was earlier than wished plus there was a holiday & we live out-of-state so had to travel, so understood the time crunch and was pleasant about it and offered help. Know folders require not only pics/obit but also who’s doing what (so agreed & decided), who can be present as a pallbearer, play piano and sing at the funeral. It takes time to figure who sings in a town you don’t in & people have to find others to cover job duties before committing, so it doesn’t happen overnight. She gets info last minute and CALMLY whips it together while designing. She creates important family slideshows to music–our loved one’s Forever Heritage photos. That step is vital–we can’t get them back–it’s our last proof of their life. She respects that! She mailed DVDs and assisted me after as well–always responding quickly whether by email or phone.  Please keep her happy–she’s valuable to your business and the “central spoke” for total efficiency so things can be printed, posted, etc in prep for the funeral day.

In the beginning I worked with Lindsay who was very caring and helpful. She must work 24/7! I appreciate it everything she said and did for us!

Funeral day we had a nice, kind man, Rick I believe. He was present, had everything up nicely at the FH and church, and yet gave us space to grieve.

Prior, we had a wonderful lady Lynn Anderson from Miles City who walked us through doing a pre-plan contract, explained caskets, etc. Loved her!!  She too was very kind, smart, compassionate and “gets it” when talking to us! Quick responses and helpful. Valuable!

Thanks!

I was just amazed at how you took all my worries of my shoulders and handled every small and big detail with such efficiency and care. Everything from the moment I walked in until after the funeral was beyond my expectations and left me in awe of the whole experience. There was no detail left undone. The entire staff was genuinely very caring and helpful.

Planning Ahead

More and more people are realizing the many advantages of prearranging their funerals. The process is simple, and the benefits to the loved ones who are left to handle the arrangements are very well recognized and appreciated. To accommodate the growing need for professional pre-planning support, we provide highly trained and experienced Pre-Need Counselors at Stevenson & Sons:

Lynn Anderson in Miles City, Montana • 406-232-4457
Natalie Boey in Helena, Montana • 406-442-8520
Steve Pearce in Williston, North Dakota • 701-572-6329

Some of the benefits of prearranging are:
Pre-planning allows you to express your own wishes • It means that your loved ones will not have to make a number of important decisions during a time of mourning • Your funeral plan is transferable, in case you move away • It relieves your family of the financial burden • It allows your loved ones to spend their time comforting each other during a time of grief, instead of concerning themselves with the specifics of the arrangements • When pre-planning, there are both guaranteed and non-guaranteed plans available to choose from • It allows you the opportunity to discuss your final arrangements with family members to ensure clarity, and to ensure that those responsible are comfortable with all of your decisions.
