Bible Verse of the Month
And we know
that all things
work together for good
to them that love God,
to them who are the called
according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28
It Starts Early
Long before any ceremonies, services or rituals begin, the staff of Stevenson & Sons is busy making sure everything is just right. It’s important to every Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home that every single detail is fully attended to before any family, loved ones and friends start to arrive at the venue. Brook, a member of the Miles City Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home team waits for the funeral procession to arrive. Brook gets the doors open, make sure all parking areas are clear, helps people get seated, answers questions, and helps members of the funeral party in any ways that she can. Family, friends and loved ones should never have to be worried or concerned about any detail of the proceedings or the venue.
The Viewing
The viewing is the final time that loved ones, family and friends will be able to be with the deceased’s physical form. It is a very important period during the funeral process. The viewing supports people in being with their loved one or friend – and speaking to them. The quiet sharing of memories, apologies, regrets, secrets and promises of future commitments are all shared during this important part of the celebration of a life well lived, which is an equally important element of the grieving process. The staff of your Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home will ensure that every conceivable detail of the viewing is perfect. Loved ones often make special requests for the viewing. Some ask for specific photos or groups of photos to be displayed; some ask for particular music, while others request a special item or two, such as a saddle or musical instrument be on the stage. The staff of Stevenson & Sons encourages such input and is always happy to accommodate in any way possible.
So Important to Us
Everyone on the staff of every Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home loves it when a member of a deceased’s funeral party takes a moment to express their appreciation for anything about the event. Staff members eagerly share these comments among themselves, and often create even greater services based on the praises and suggestions. It’s especially heartwarming when someone takes their time to write to us, and tell us they appreciated all we did to host a perfect experience. Again, such letters are quickly shared by staff members – all of whom are eager to savor the kind words. Such letters are relatively regularly received by one or more of the family owned and operated Stevenson & Sons Funeral Homes. We’d like to share just one of those letters with you now. The last name has been omitted for privacy:
At first contact, Vanessa Gruba, the Stevenson representative I worked with, put my mind to rest that all the things necessary to efficiently and successfully respect my husband’s wishes to be buried in Miles City would be handled with almost no input needed from me here in Billings. She had immediate solutions to any questions I had, and within a very short time that important part of my life was accomplished. She was there for our family and friends who were at the gravesite, and I believe she ordered the beautiful day we had for that event!
I have instructed my family to follow through with Vanessa when my time comes to be near my husband, and I am confident that she will make it as peaceful for them as she did for me.

At Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City
While the room in the photograph below serves many purposes, at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City we like to call it our chapel. It has hosted countless viewings, events, final services and religious ceremonies for many decades.
Grief Support
Many people do not have the time to locate a proper grief counselor. Others do not live in an area where there are any grief counselors available. And finally, many people are not prepared to pay a professional for grief counseling. Fortunately, the internet provides some solutions for those who wish to seek grief counseling or to interact with groups of people who are also coping with grief. Many such services exist, as do professional counselors who will assist people privately on line, hence eliminating the need for travel. Not all services are the same, nor are all chat rooms/groups. You should research what you are interested in and follow-up on the leads you believe will be most helpful to your personal situation until you locate exactly what works best for you. In your search engine look for terms like “grief chat rooms” “bereavement support groups” “professional grief counseling” or “grief management.” Good research is the path to successfully linking up with what, or who, will work the best for you. Another option would be to start your search at the Mental Health American website. Lots of information, and many places to research groups, centers and more.
