Bible Verse of the month

So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10

A Few Excellent Grief-Related Books

Good Grief Book CoverAs human beings, we share our compassion and knowledge freely. We are all fortunate that, over countless millennia, our ability to share knowledge grew from being by mouth-to-mouth to the written word. The written word endures accurately generation after generation. There are many writings that  can help us deal with grief – some new – some very old. Below, we’ve named just three of our favorite books that help people deal with grief. We hope you’ll consider reading one or two, should you still be coping with the difficulties of a loss.

  • Good Grief by Granger E. Westberg
  • Getting Through the Night by Eugenia Price
  • A Grief Observed by C.S. Lewis

Planning Ahead

More and more people are realizing the many advantages of pre-planning their funerals. The process is simple, and the benefits to the loved ones who are left to handle the final arrangements are well recognized and very much appreciated. Just some of the benefits of pre-planning are:

  • Pre-planning allows you to express your own wishes
  • It means that your loved ones will not have to make a number of important decisions during a time of mourning
  • Your funeral plan is transferable, in case you move away
  • It relieves your family of the financial burden
  • It allows your loved ones to spend their time comforting each other during a time of grief, instead of concerning themselves with the many specifics of the arrangements
  • When pre-planning, there are both guaranteed and non-guaranteed plans available to choose from
  • Pre-planning allows you the opportunity to discuss your final arrangements with family members to ensure clarity, and to ensure that those responsible are comfortable with all of your decisions
Lynn Anderson

While there are several advantages to paying for all or part of your final arrangements during pre-planning with us, it is not necessary. Like everything else about pre-planning, paying for final arrangements is deeply personal and should conform to your situation and wishes. Many people pre-pay only for their monument and/or their casket. Since these items customarily increase in cost every year, prepayment is a practical way to minimize the costs that the family will be responsible for. We have several attractive options available for dealing with prearranged final expenses, and we will gladly review and discuss them with you to find the best one for you and your family.

Memorial Day Monuments

Perhaps the most famous of all Memorial Day monuments is this one, showing Marines erecting Old Glory at Iwo Jima.

Memorial Day and monuments go hand-in-hand in our great country. Memorial Day is the day we set aside to honor those who paid the ultimate price for our many freedoms. The members of every branch of service in the United States who died protecting our country and its ideals since 1868 are honored on this very special holiday. Monuments erected in honor of these brave individuals are plentiful, and can be found in every state of our great union. Monuments are permanent, and they convey the respect of those who erected them. We believe this is why we get so many requests for new monuments each Memorial Day. If you would like to have the ceremony for placing your new monument held on Memorial Day 2020, then we would ask that you please complete your design and place your order no later than April 10th. We want to be absolutely sure that we fulfill every order in time for placement on Memorial Day. If you’d like some ideas, to see some of the monuments we’ve crafted for others, or if you need any help at all – please visit our website, which includes complete contact information. Stevenson Monuments has been helping families create lasting monuments to their loved ones and friends for over 50 years. We look forward to serving you.
